£149 covers: your membership of the local IAM group; your observed rides or drives; your How to be a better rider / driver handbook; the Advanced Test fee; and one year’s IAM membership. If you are taking the advanced riding programme you may be asked to make a contribution to your observer’s fuel costs. If you would like more information on this please click here.

> What is the difference between Skill for Life and Skill for Life fast track?

Skill for Life Fast track is available for Drivers only. This is available on demand and is essentially the Skill for Life package delivered over 2 half days by an IAM D&S Fleet Trainer followed by the IAM Test. If you’d like to discuss this in more detail then contact the Customer Care Team on customercare@iam.org.uk

> How long will it take to complete the Skill for Life programme?

This is dependent on your current driving abilities, but typically this is between 6-8 observed runs at regular intervals over a 3-6 month period. Your observer should be able to give you a good indication of this when you have your first observed run or drive.
